\u201cGevechtsrapport: 0755 uur. Om ongeveer 0755 uur achtervolgde ik, vergezeld door vier vliegtuigen van Staffel 11, een kleine vlucht Nieuports. Na een lange achtervolging viel ik een tegenstander aan en na een kort gevecht schoot ik zijn motor en brandstoftank kapot. Het vliegtuig ging in een staartspin. Ik volgde het tot vlak boven de grond, gaf het nog een schot, zodat het vliegtuig neerstortte ten zuidwesten van Houthulst Bos en recht de grond in ging. Toen ik ongeveer 50 meter achter hem was, kwam ik door een gaswolk van de explosie die het even moeilijk maakte om te zien.
