“Gevechtsverslag: 1230 uur. Heuvel 104, ten noordoosten van Moreuil. RE 2; Engelsman. Rond 1230 viel ik, boven het bos van Moreuil, een Engelse RE aan op een hoogte van 800 meter, direct onder de wolken. Omdat de tegenstander me pas heel laat zag, slaagde ik erin hem tot op 50 meter te naderen. Vanaf tien meter schoot ik op hem tot hij begon te branden. Toen de vlammen uitsloegen, was ik nog maar vijf meter van hem verwijderd. Ik kon zien hoe de waarnemer en de piloot uit hun vliegtuig leunden om aan het vuur te ontsnappen. Het viel ongecontroleerd op de grond waar het explodeerde en tot as verbrandde.
