“Gevechtsverslag: 1220 uur. Bos bij Mericourt. Armstrong – 2, verbrand; Engelsman. Ik vloog op zeer lage hoogte en zag granaatontploffingen nabij de plaats van een overwinning. Dichterbij komend herkende ik een Engelsman op 500 meter hoogte, die naar huis vloog. Ik sneed hem af en naderde hem. Na 100 schoten stond het vijandelijke vliegtuig in brand. Toen stortte het neer, raakte de grond bij het kleine bos van Mericourt en bleef branden.
