\u00ab Rapport de combat : 1115 hrs, Lewarde, au sud de Douai. Biplace Bristol n\u00b0 3340. Moteur n\u00b0 10443. Occupants : Lieutenant McLickler et Lieutenant George ; tous deux gravement bless\u00e9s. Il y avait du brouillard et le temps \u00e9tait tr\u00e8s mauvais lorsque j’ai attaqu\u00e9 une escouade ennemie qui volait entre Douai et Valenciennes. Jusqu’\u00e0 ce point, elle avait r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 avancer sans se faire tirer dessus. J’ai attaqu\u00e9 avec quatre avions de mon Staffel. J’ai personnellement distingu\u00e9 le dernier appareil que j’ai forc\u00e9 \u00e0 atterrir apr\u00e8s un court combat pr\u00e8s de Lewarde. Les occupants ont br\u00fbl\u00e9 leur appareil. C’\u00e9tait un nouveau type d’avion que nous n’avions pas encore vu ; il semble \u00eatre rapide et plut\u00f4t maniable. Un moteur puissant, en forme de V, 12 cylindres ; son nom n’\u00e9tait pas reconnaissable. Le DIII, tant en vitesse qu’en capacit\u00e9 de mont\u00e9e, est sans aucun doute sup\u00e9rieur. Sur l’escouade ennemie qui comprenait six avions, quatre ont \u00e9t\u00e9 forc\u00e9s d’atterrir de notre c\u00f4t\u00e9 par mon Staffel.
