Un message nous est parvenu indiquant que des avions ennemis avaient \u00e9t\u00e9 vus \u00e0 1 000 m\u00e8tres d’altitude malgr\u00e9 le mauvais temps et le fort vent d’est. Je suis mont\u00e9 seul avec l’intention d’abattre un avion d’infanterie ou d’artillerie. Au bout d’une heure, j’ai rep\u00e9r\u00e9 \u00e0 800 m\u00e8tres un grand nombre d’avions d’artillerie ennemis au-del\u00e0 des lignes. Ils s’approchaient parfois de notre front, mais ne le d\u00e9passaient jamais. Apr\u00e8s plusieurs tentatives vaines, je r\u00e9ussis, \u00e0 moiti\u00e9 cach\u00e9 par les nuages, \u00e0 prendre par surprise l’un de ces BE et \u00e0 l’attaquer \u00e0 600 m\u00e8tres, \u00e0 un kilom\u00e8tre de nos lignes. L’adversaire a commis l’erreur de voler en ligne droite lorsqu’il a tent\u00e9 de m’\u00e9chapper, et il est donc rest\u00e9 un clin d’\u0153il de trop sous mon feu (500 tirs). Soudain, il effectue deux virages incontr\u00f4l\u00e9s et s’\u00e9crase, fumant, sur le sol. L’avion \u00e9tait compl\u00e8tement d\u00e9truit ; il est tomb\u00e9 dans la section F.3.
