Il s’est d\u00e9fendu d\u00e9sesp\u00e9r\u00e9ment ; Manfred \u00e9crit textuellement : \u00ab J’ai eu avec lui le combat le plus difficile qui me soit arriv\u00e9 jusqu’\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent \u00bb. Le combat s’est d\u00e9roul\u00e9 \u00e0 toute vitesse sur 3500 m\u00e8tres, dans des tourbillons de plus en plus serr\u00e9s. Malheureusement, l’escadrille de chasse de Manfred a de nouveau perdu deux avions, dont son chef ; soit huit avions en huit semaines.
