Avec l’avanc\u00e9e et les vols quotidiens \u00e9puisants, je n’ai pas eu l’occasion de vous remercier pour votre aimable lettre. Je n’ai malheureusement pas pu me rendre \u00e0 Berlin pour la c\u00e9r\u00e9monie comm\u00e9morative, mais j’ai pens\u00e9 que je servirais mieux la m\u00e9moire de notre cher capitaine en agissant ainsi. Je me suis fix\u00e9 pour objectif de poursuivre l’\u0153uvre de l’escadron dans son esprit et selon ses principes, d’autant plus qu’il m’avait recommand\u00e9 ce souhait tant oralement que par \u00e9crit. Je serai \u00e9ternellement reconnaissant \u00e0 votre fils, car c’est gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 son enseignement que j’ai connu le succ\u00e8s et que j’occupe aujourd’hui mon poste militaire. Mais je pense souvent que notre capitaine serait encore parmi nous ; car aussi honorable que soit le poste de commandant, il est associ\u00e9 \u00e0 d’autant plus de difficult\u00e9s et \u00e0 bien des moments amers lorsqu’on voit tomber les meilleurs parmi les meilleurs.
